My class is a self-contained special education classroom made up of third, fourth, and fifth grade students. My students are kind, funny, curious, and eager members of our classroom and school community.
These children love to listen to stories, share ideas, and explore the world around them.
They are eager for new opportunities to learn and grow! I want to give them positive and rigorous opportunities to learn, and reframe school for them. Often, students with disabilities begin to associate school with negativity, frustration, and shame. I want to shift this to encouraging, hopeful, and resilient!
My Project
Thank you for learning about our new project! Our class is looking to create more authentic reading opportunities to build important life and comprehension skills. The office supplies will create reading binders for each student to encourage making connections, drawing conclusions, and thinking critically about the stories we read. The audio player is to replace the one in out listening center that stopped working about a month ago. It gets a lot of love!
My class is now excited about reading, writing, and engaging authentically with stories; this has historically been a very difficult area for them!
Your donation to my class encourages lifelong learners, and helps develop the important skills of children who will grow up able to be critical thinkers, inventors, and partners.
