My students need these books for our Rooted in Reading program. Having each of these read alouds will help students learn and understand ELA skills that are necessary for third grade reading.
Currently I teach third grade at a K-5 school with approximately 420 students. We are a Title I school with 60% of our students receiving free or reduced lunch. I will team teach with another third grade teacher this year. I will be responsible for the Reading while she teaches the Math. I teach Regular Ed, EC, AIG, and ESL learners. Third grade is the first year of standardized testing so I want my students to have every opportunity to become engaged in reading so that they are successful in thrid grade.
My Project
These books will help my students learn our ELA standards for third grade. Each week we will take a story and focus on important parts of our curriculum with that particular book. The books I have chosen are extremely engaging for this age group. I can't wait to continue the year with these books and activities!
It is so important for students to be interested in what they are reading so that they can fully understand the text.
They will complete various activities with each book that will help them master goals for the year! My students have loved doing this so far this year and I can't wait to continue!!!
