This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are energetic and creative middle school students. They love technology, and they do a great job with project-based tasks. I would like to give them more resources to use for projects and independent reading. My students are curious and love to learn about new topics.
I want to encourage my students to continue reading for pleasure, and I want to make sure that they develop into life-long readers.
My students do not all have access to a variety of reading material right now so I want to provide materials that are readily available at school. I hope to build resources so that they can have access to engaging reading materials at any time.
My Project
Students become better readers the more that they read. It only takes one special book to hook a child for life. My goal is to find those books for my students and make them accessible every day. I also hope that my students will began to encourage each other to read once they become more engaged themselves.
Having a variety of books readily available in my classroom will make these goals much more achievable.
This classroom library will include fiction and nonfiction. It will also include award-winning books that will expose students to a variety of genres and introduce them to new and exciting types of books.
