I am the K-6 librarian at a Title I school in rural Arkansas. We have a large population of kids who come from low-income homes and a large population of students who speak English as a second language. I am passionate about instilling a love of reading in my students, and one of the best ways to do that is to read aloud to them. Reading engaging, funny picture books to them is a guaranteed way to get them to see that reading is fun! It often leads to them wanting to read the book again by themselves. I love when my students come into the library and try to be the first ones to claim the class read-aloud for the day as the book they want to check out!
This project will help me give my students fun, engaging experiences with hilarious picture books.
