I teach 20 second grade students (virtually for the 2020-2021 school year) at a magnet school located in Hartford, Connecticut. I work at a school where free breakfast and lunch are served daily. My students all have diverse backgrounds and come to school online each and every day so eager and willing to learn. Many of my students suffer from an abundant amount of social/emotional issues going on in their personal lives which at times could make the long school day very difficult for them. However, despite the daily issues that most of my students face, every day, they come into my classroom with such perseverance and try their personal best. My school and classroom is a safe and happy place for my students.
My Project
For the 2020-2021 school year, I am teaching 20 students virtually from their individual homes. With that being said, my teaching style has completely changed this school year. As part of teaching online this school year, part of my duties is.... PREP! I have had to make assignments accessible to my students online and that, unfortunately, takes a lot of time. Preparing assignments from scratch to make virtually has been no easy feat, so I have used Teachers Pay Teachers as my number one resource to find assignments! Teachers Pay Teachers has been an amazing resource that I have used to purchase already made assignments that teachers around the country have created. These assignments have accessible to all of my students through Google Classroom. To date this school year, I have already spent hundreds of dollars on resources that my students have used from Teachers Pay Teachers in the subject areas of math, literacy, science, and writing. The Teachers Pay Teachers gift card listed in this project will help me fund engaging activities that my students can continue to complete online as part of their daily assignments.
