Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students are so engaged in our school library. They love assisting with decorating, making displays, promoting books, participating in our library clubs, and planning programs. One way that I encourage them to provide input is to request books that they are interested in checking out. This year, many students have been requesting books that we do not own, and so we've been borrowing copies through interlibrary loans with our sister schools.
As the hub for our entire school, our library provides books that our students want to read and serves as a community space.
It is important that our students see that their input is valued as we continue to build our library collection and plan student-centered programming. Any support for this project will facilitate our purchase of more books that our students will be excited to read! Because we have many avid readers, we would also like to purchase craft kits and coloring books to use as incentive prizes and rewards for engagement in our library contests, events, and activities.
