Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach 14-18-year-old young adults with a various disabilities in a self-contained and inclusive setting.

After 1.5 years of distance learning, my students are ready to build relationships, explore their identities, and become historians in the classroom!

My goal is to help students make real world connections and analyze history by connecting the past to the present.

My Project

During virtual instruction, many students felt alienated from their teacher, peers, and overall learning community. As a result, many students do not feel connected to their school or learning. History and Geography is a fun class that many special education students struggle with because it can have a lot of reading and writing.

By funding my project, you will help me and my students engage in fun and exciting lessons that will not only broaden their horizons, but will also help them connect the history of their past to their present.
