This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are fifth graders who attend a k-5 elementary school in the city. Our students face challenges that many can't imagine but they don't allow their circumstances to define them and neither do I! My reading classes are full of students from various backgrounds including many who are learning English as a second language. I love how they come in each day sharing a part of their world with me. Sometimes we're discussing their weekend activities, other times it's what they want to do to change the world. One thing I know for sure is that reading is an integral part of our classroom. My students love just having time to relax and dive deep into the pages of a good book. There's nothing better than that! Don't you agree? I am very excited to work with this group of students and help them to become just as excited and curious about reading as I am!
All of my students are champions who are capable of excelling at whatever they set their minds to!
My Project
As a new reading teacher, I would like to have resources that help create fun and engaging lessons for my students. I'm requesting printable resources and activities that I will use to teach and review various reading concepts through the year. I'm looking forward to using Crack the Code to review affixes, synonyms/antonyms, and many other concepts. As our library continues to grow student book request continue to roll in. My students will be so excited to have these new books in our library.
Lessons that are hands on and engaging help create engaged students.
With your help, I will be able to purchase literacy resources that are aligned with our standards and that help to free up my time to focus on the instructional needs of the students.
