Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The school doors are closed, but learning continues! The current situation in the world and in education is truly unprecedented. Besides the feelings of missing our classroom and all of the supplies with in it, my scholars are now dealing with feelings of anxiety and melancholy as they miss the familiar routines of our classroom as well as their friends.
I am so proud of my scholars' resiliency and their ability to adapt to extreme circumstances.
My students are diverse in their cultural backgrounds and learning styles, but they come together as learners. Although this is not where we thought we would find oursleves when school closed for what was to be a few weeks, my students are actively participating in distance learning.
I found myself with limited resources at home and have since purchased a phone and tablet tripod to record lessons and use techology like Screencastify that allows me to share my screen with students.
Technology/Zoom has allowed us to keep some of our normal routines. On Monday morings we continue to share "good things" and on Fridays we end the week with a Fun Friday activity.
My Project
My students are resilient, they never give up! They have jumped right into remote learning and I look forwrd to supporting them through this challenge.
The adjustable laptop stand will support my teaching and connecting with my students through Zoom.
In fourth grade students look forwatd to Gold Rush Days and although that calendared day will not happen they way I had planned I am planning on creating tasks that are engaging for my students through the use of a green screen. The laptop stand will elevate my laptop making the use of a green screen viewable. I will be able to hang the chart paper on the wall so that I can use markers to model my math work for students.
I am looking forward to providing my scholars with additional exciting grade level specific standards based lessons. The support materails purchased through Teachers Pay Teachers will support the Gold Rush Unit as well as other standards based tasks.
