My classroom is made up of 21 students, grades Kindergarten and first. The students come from diverse backgrounds with 65% of students receiving free/reduced lunch. The students have been working on being team members and mindful leaders in the building. These particular students are engaged more through hands-on learning.
These students strive to be leaders and welcome everyone into the classroom.
You can see their love for learning shine when they are persevering through a difficult task. They love to show off their work to others and discuss their goals they are working towards. I am so lucky to have such a unique and hard working group.
My Project
Osmo kits were introduced to the students during their technology special. The students fell in love with it instantly! They've been talking about Osmo ever since and continue to ask when we will get some for our own classroom. If we get our own we would utilize Osmo during word work, math groups, and even free choice (YES they finally want to practice math and words during free choice). After watching them explore Osmo by building words and adding numbers I could see their love for learning grow even further, and who am I to stand in their way for loving education!
Osmo kits not only engage my students but allow the students to work together and cheer one another on!
Having two kits in my classroom would mean the students can use them during word work and during math groups! These kits will make a difference in this classroom and will promote student growth while having fun!
