My 25 second grade students are full of energy and ready to learn! We love discovering the world around us. Each day in our classroom is filled with wonder and excitement as we grow into the best versions of ourselves. The small, rural community and school support us as we use our creativity to challenge ourselves and each other.
My students know that they can become anything they want to be, as long as they work hard to accomplish their dreams.
We are working toward becoming caring friends and motivated learners. Let's work together to provide my students with the tools they need to grow, learn, and make a difference.
My Project
My students all learn in different ways, and I want to create a student-centered learning environment with a variety of opportunities to make learning stick. These materials will be used in small groups to provide each student with the different tools they need to succeed. We need whiteboards and markers to practice addition and subtraction skills. The Thinking Folder Game Library is full of math activities for students to play in small group time. Some students like to practice fact fluency on the Chromebook with the Education License, other students like to practice by playing card games like Splat or Cypher with their friends, and more students like to practice by building equations with double dice or the dice stack game. Many of my hands-on students enjoy building puzzles, so we would love to have counting money, operations, and place value puzzles for our small groups. The "I'm Through, What Can I Do?" book provides bonus activities for fast finishers to enrich their learning.
When students have access to differentiated ways to learn, every student is able to grow in the way that works best for them.
These resources will provide students with personalized options for small groups to ensure that they are getting the most out of their education. Every student deserves to learn and grow, and creating a student-centered classroom will help them to make the most of their learning throughout the year.
