Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am excited and honored to be teaching a Transitional Kindergarten Special Day Class! I will have nine students to begin the school year who will be transitioning from a preschool program where some have been for two years. As TK students, we are working on so many foundational skills, and as their teacher I am charged with the great responsibility of creating interactive and engaging learning opportunities for them.
From the community to the home, technology is everywhere, and I am eager to include it in my classroom.
Some of the most innovative instructional software is being developed specifically for tablets, and there are so many educational apps and programs that can be used in the classroom.
In addition to using technology in the classroom for instructional purposes, having iPads available for data collection use would make the process more streamlined for myself and my paraprofessionals.
My Project
Having access to iPads in the classroom will enhance my student's learning in several ways.
Students will have access to innovative and engaging instructional activities that will encourage their participation and make them excited to learn.
Many of my students already have access to technology in their homes, and supporting their understanding and fluency in the classroom can help them learn to use technology in meaningful and safe ways.
In addition to supporting my student's learning, having iPads in the classroom will help me and my paraprofessionals collect data on behavior and academic goals more efficiently and effectively. Help our classroom get iPads so that we can be part of the 21st century classroom!
