This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am the Library Media Specialist in a school with students who come from a low-income area. Our students have limited parental support because most parents work multiple jobs in an effort to provide for their children. Our school is a Title l school with one hundred percent of them receiving free or reduced price lunch.
My students work hard and take advantage of the educational opportunities available to them.
They enjoy coming to school and learning new things. They are an amazing group of children who are working hard to become productive citizens of our society.
My Project
Having a set of iPads with cases and earpods in my library will allow for my students to be engaged in learning through technology. One way the iPads will be used is a means for the students to work collaboratively to create in projects in the MakerSpace. Students will be able to look up pictures of structures then design their own using materials in our MakerSpace. Another way they can use the iPads is by recording their book report projects. Instead of completing a paper and pencil ordinary book report, students will be able to create videos to bring their books to life. Using the cloud, students can share their work with me and each other.
My project will make a difference to my students because it will allow them to express their learning in more engaging ways.
Often times students find going to the library boring, but by using engaging technology coupled with engaging lessons, I can help them see that the library is so much more than meets the eye.
