My students need engaging center activities including Questions of the Day Chart, Number Line Math Activity, CVC Word Work Center and Early Literacy Comprehension Cards.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach kindergarten in a school where the majority of the student population lives in a homeless shelter. This is a high-need community where early literacy is crucial.
Although my students are facing a less than ideal living situation, they are full of curiosity, love, learning and enjoy exploring new ideas.
When students walk into my classroom they enter a safe, supportive environment where they all have the opportunity to thrive.
My Project
Children learn best when they are actively engaged. Implementing Math and literacy centers in the classroom helps promote independence, responsibility, and allows students to learn through self discovery. In order for the centers to be effective, they must be interesting and encourage open-ended inquiry. I have requested hands on learning activities that help teach essential language/math skills. These include a Question of the Day center, CVC Word Work center, Number Line Math, and Early Literacy Comprehension cards.
These resources will offer multilevel literacy and Math activities for students based on their demonstrated need in order to strengthen specific skills and strategies.
The ultimate goal is to educate, motivate and inspire students to value lifelong learning. Your donation will bring me closer to this goal.
