I teach 32 first grade students that are eager learners. They enjoy working together to learn new things. We often work in pairs or in groups to explore and investigate topics we are learning about. We are a multicultural class, with different backgrounds and a common love of reading. My students are on different reading levels and it would be wonderful if all of them had an opportunity to read a new and exciting books, at their own reading levels.
My Project
Most of the lower leveled books in my classroom are outdated, ripped and falling apart. The books also are not engaging or interesting. I would love it if my students could read books that are interesting, engaging and in good condition. If my class receives this book donation, it will give my students, especially the struggling readers, an opportunity to read new books. The books I have chosen are targeting my struggling readers. These books will have stories that are interesting and engaging. Some of the books I’d love for my students to read are the Elephant and Piggie book series, fairy tales and science books that teach children about animals. This will motivate the children to want to read the words and allow them to become better readers.
