My class is comprised of 3 cohorts of students. Cohort A and B come to school 2 days a week, while doing online work the other 2 days. Cohort C, ny largest group, is with me 4 days a week in order to receive ESL services and benefit from additional time in the classroom. One day a week, we are all virtually learning from home. During school days, we have enjoyed time outside to run off some energy. This has been helpful as I have many active students in my class. As the weather is getting colder, they need active play that keeps students socially distanced. This need is why I'm asking for help.
My Project
Cup stacking will help my students in our hybrid model in many ways. During this pandemic and age of social distancing, it is important to have engaging and meaningful options for students to engage in during indoor recess in the classroom.
Cup stacking provides the opportunity to learn and practice a new skill.
The connection to growth mindset is absolutely necessary! Competition can happen against one's self or against other students. I feel that engaging in this activity also enhances their ability to focus.
My plan is to teach cup stacking through video instruction and teacher modeling, scaffolding the skills necessary to assist with their ability to grow in the skill. Due to "not sharing" resources between students, I am requesting 1 set per student and a few teacher sets.
