My Students

The students I work with come from varying backgrounds but the community as a whole is very rural. I love the excitement they have each day when I greet them. They love creative activities using the iPads in class and have created some awesome projects this year.

One challenge my students have is writing in a way that effectively communicates what they are trying to say, but anytime I throw something their way that is new they jump right to it and have inspired me to come up with more fun activities.

My Project

When I went from teaching world history to West Virginia history I went from having vast resources available in terms of media to almost nothing. I have started making 2 minute West Virginia history videos to engage students, getting them excited and supplementing the topics of our class.

The videos have been going well but storage and the screen size are limiting the ease to make good videos.

I also want to take this and use it as a storage hub for students creating tourism videos in class to promote areas hit by economic loss in West Virginia.
