They walk into the gym for PE class full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what's in store for them that day. They know that I believe in them and will encourage them to build upon the knowledge, fitness, and skills that they have. Sweat and smiles abound!
I teach at a Title I school, in Washington state, where almost 60% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
To help families cope with food insecurities during the non-school times, many students receive backpack food on the weekend, and our school also runs food drives before vacations.
Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn, be active and do their best. They want to be in school, because they want to be successful and reach their goals!
Have you ever played Tug-of-War and come away with sore hands? Our students experience this on our annual Field Day and during our Staff vs. Students tug-of-war. With a new, soft rope this would be a thing of the past, and our old rope could be re-purposed. The light weight and inviting colors of an Omnikin ball would be an exciting addition to many games and volleying activities, and a foam balance beam would energize our obstacle courses and improve balance!
Your generous donation to fund this equipment would be hugely motivating to our deserving students!
The Physical Education budget is limited and sometimes it seems challenging to keep things fresh for the kids. The items being requested would go a long way in providing novel experiences.
