I have an amazing class of 19 first graders! We are the only first grade in our school. In fact, we are the only first grade in our town. I have the special opportunity to teach them this year!
They are hardworking and very energetic!
They love listening to stories, playing games, and learning about science. Our days are spent practicing reading, doing math, writing stories, and playing. The children also practice important social skills. The children are learning important life skills every day!
First grade is such an important year for learning to read! In first grade, we lay the foundation for future reading success. The children read lots of books during our literacy block. However, sometimes early readers need activities to engage them in reading when they aren't ready to read for hours! Building reading stamina takes time!
This project includes hands-on, fun letter identification and sight word activities.
The sight word puzzles in this project offer a hands-on way for children to manipulate letters and make words. The color by sight word worksheets help children read words while they coloring. There are a few sight word games included in this project that allow the children to interact with one another and play while learning to read!
