Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember how it felt to lose yourself in a good book? I want to provide a cozy, comfortable area in my classroom so that my students can have that feeling!
My students are unique, capable learners; they just need a little extra help to achieve their learning goals.
This will be my first year teaching in a self-contained Special Education K-6 classroom for 10 students, many of whom are English language learners. I want them to have an area in the classroom where they can grow in their literacy skills as well as develop self-regulatory strategies through reading.
My Project
This rug will provide a nice separate area in my classroom for my students to lose themselves in literacy. The chairs and bean bags will give the students flexibility in seating and choices in learning. Together they will create an environment that will help me take the first few steps in making my classroom a place that my students feel safe and comfortable in their learning.
"Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body." —Joseph Addison
As my students start their school career I look forward to providing them with all of the opportunities for learning possible. Thank you for supporting me and my students!
