My Project

Support will go towards purchasing high-interest decodable readers for middle school-age English Language Learners (ELLs) who have recently moved to the United States and are learning to read in English. Most phonics series and decodable readers are geared toward elementary-age students and are too babyish for middle schoolers. Yet, my newcomer ELLs need a solid foundation in phonics as they begin to read in English. These books will make that process more interesting for them because they will be able to practice decoding while reading about characters and topics relevant to their age group.
