I work for a Title I school that also serves military families. Title I is a term used when the majority of students come from low-income families. Because our school is close to a military base, more than half of our students come from military families.
The students that come from the neighborhood around our school have many needs.
Some are being raised by one parent, grandparents, and even older siblings. I want my classroom to be a place where I can provide them with the best tools that will enhance their learning experience.
On the other side of our school is the military base. Half of our student body comes from this base. Financially, these students may not be in need but, just like some of the neighborhood kids; they are missing a dad or mom who are deployed.
Supplying the needs in my classroom is just a small way to help better the lives of these students.
My Project
There are a variety of materials in this project that will allow students to engage in multiple lessons. Different incentives are also a part of this project. Some materials requested are to replenish from the year.
There are two items in this project that will embrace diversity and teach students the importance of acceptance.
The Color of Us will be read to the students and using the Jumbo People Colors Crayon Pack they will be able to create a craft that they can relate to.
It doesn't take much to show students that their hard work is appreciated. As an incentive, the Scented Stickers are just the right tool to excite students.
The rest of the items that are requested are things that needs to be replaced or replenished. Currently, the students' dry erasers are peeling from the back and is in dire need of new ones. Students' birthdays are very special and should be celebrated. Having the birthday stickers and certificates are a nice touch to help have a memorable birthday in school.
