Help me give my students manipulatives and tools to help create engaging and differiantiated reading and math centers.

My kindergarten students are amazing! Even though they come from challenging backgrounds, they love school and try to do their best.
In the fall, all students in our school take the NWEA assessment.
This computerized test will provide a detailed analysis of each student’s strengths and weaknesses in the areas of math and reading. Each grade level has a target number which determines if a child is at, below or above grade level. Many of my students came in at a pre k level. About 3 were kindergarten ready and 1 was above. As a teacher it is my job to provide small group instruction that will challenge all levels.
A second test was administered after winter break. The district’s goal is to show one years worth of growth. I was able to achieve that, but remember we were at least a year behind so we still have a long way to go!
I know that providing small group instruction works, however engaging centers for the other students is essential.
Please consider helping my students. In this area, approximately sixty-five percent of students will graduate high school. Let’s make a new trend and start them off on the right foot.
Learning centers provide students with exciting and interesting experiences to practice, enrich, reteach and enhance their learning. These centers whether focused on reading or math are typically filled with manipulatives or tools. I have many laminated paper centers and recording sheets, but lack essential manipulatives or tools to create engaging centers. For example, I would like a variety of.dice, so I can provide math centers that challenge all levels. My low students can roll a die and create number sentences to 6, but I could challenge my high students by creating addiction facts to 10 or 20. In addition, I have many laminated paper centers that that require spinners. Currently students try to manipulate a paper clip and pencil, but are easily frustrated. Transparent spinners would make these centers less stressful and more productive.
By providing more manipulatives and tools, I will be able to construct differiated centers that will keep all engaged.
I can then spend time with my students individually or in small groups, while students work independently or in small groupings.
I have collected a variety of materials over the years, but teaching at a community school our funds are limited and so is my pocketbook. Our school provides our students with the essential curriculum, but lacks materials would help differentiate centers, small group and independent work. DonorsChoose.org is an awesome community of people who care about students in their education. It takes a village, please consider helping our eastside village.
