I am the lucky teacher of a diverse classroom of students from all over the world. I have a unique and special group of 3rd graders who love learning and being in my classroom. We are leaders who begin each day with the mindset that we are going to do our best and be amazing.
I am honored to teach students who represent so many different countries.
I appreciate their diversity and what they bring to our family of learners. Our school is a special place where I strive to make each student feel like a leader who is appreciated for who they are.
My Project
In my classroom, we are working on connecting our reading experiences to broader themes, including hope, friendship, kindness and courage. I am looking to create book bins with books about courage to capture this theme in our reading. My students need engaging chapter books to help them connect to the larger world around them.
I want my students to experience the joy of reading a book and connecting with their classmates through student-led book clubs.
These books will give me the opportunity to guide my 3rd grade reading leaders to dig deeper in a text to look for central themes that can be applied in the larger world around them. With these books, my students will meet weekly with their book clubs to discuss courage and how the characters in these books show this trait. Through our discussions, my students will not only be exposed to a variety of books about courage, but they will gain skills in communication, collaboration and empathy towards their classmates.
