My students are sweet and curious 5 and 6-year-olds who are eager to learn new things about the world. They are all unique and come from various cultural backgrounds like China, Mexico, South America as well as European and Middle Eastern countries. Most of them speak English as a second language.
They are energetic kindergartners who need to be engaged in learning, and high interest books are a must in the classroom.
My class loves learning and gets excited when learning something new, especially when I take out a new interesting book to read to them.
My Project
Please help my class find a love for reading with The Brand New Readers Classroom Box and Buddy Readers, geared for beginning readers. They will be used as read alouds for the whole class as well as books that students select to be in their weekly book baggies.
It is vital for kindergarteners to have relevant engaging books that are not too difficult for them to read.
They will feel more encouraged to read and have the confidence they will succeed. If children are excited to pick books then they will be excited to read them. If students are having fun while learning they will become lifelong readers.
