I need to attend a two day literacy workshop in order to gain new, fresh strategies to help guide my young readers and writers.

My Students

From the time I was a very little girl, I wanted to be a teacher. I spent endless hours pouring over books and reading aloud to my imaginary students. I couldn't wait for the day that I would have my very own class so that I could share my love of reading with children just like me.

Now, as an adult, I still spend endless hours pouring over books; however, I now have my very own set of students that enjoy and share my passion for reading.

My first graders are working so hard to learn to read. They select their favorite books from our classroom library each day, some they are able to read, while others they hope to someday be able to. My hope is that each and every one of them gain the necessary skills and strategies to grow into engaged, confident readers!

My Project

By attending this two-day literacy workshop, I hope to expand my knowledge and expertise in order to help my first graders acquire the necessary skills to become successful readers (and writers!). I am looking forward to collaborating with other teachers to gain new and exciting ways of teaching literacy skills to beginning readers and writers.

One of my greatest wishes is that my teaching practices never get stale and that I am always able to evolve with the times and keep my students engaged and in love with learning!

I can only hope that this professional development will impact my students for many years to come!
