Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Many of my students are low-income students and I teach first grade. COVID took a huge hit on their learning as they were unable to be around others their own age and missed out on all of the learning and growth kindergarten provides.

I am asking for center activities (both reading and math) to help them with socialization and practicing skills we are learning.

The rhyme time houses, word family books, learning letters, phonics match, double sided magnetic letters, and decoding kits will allow them to practice those essential reading skills to prepare them for second grade. The addition and subtraction kit, pop to add 30 game, and visual models will help with our math skills. It is essential kids learn their basic addition and subtraction facts so they can excel as math becomes harder. I also am asking for balance balls and wobble cushions to allow them to make a choice in where they are sitting and to be able to get some wiggles out while learning at their new centers without disrupting their group’s learning.

I want them to feel prepared and ready, while also being able to get those essential socialization skills that they missed being virtual their first year of school.
