This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students range from 4th grade to 7th grade, which is a really diverse age range. Engaging students from all of these ages can be quite a challenge. I want to create as many opportunities as I can to get them excited about learning and experiencing music!
I want every student in my school to get excited to learn about music.
It's my job to create those exciting experiences for them. It can be quite a challenge, but that's why I'm here!
My Project
The best way to learn is to experience. Bucket drumming has risen in popularity in school settings over the years due to its affordability and adaptability. And the students love it! Through bucket drumming, students can experience creating music and learning different musical concepts while having fun while they're doing it! Bucket drumming also creates the opportunity for ensembles, which promote teamwork, build community and offer performance opportunities for every student.
Because of its popularity, there are already a lot of curriculum ideas out there for bucket drumming.
I've been saving ideas for years and will be so thrilled to finally be able to use them in the classroom once this project is funded!
