My school is in a low-income neighborhood in Atlanta. Our students are on free or reduced price lunch and their parents have just enough to provide for their students. Asking the parents to come out of pocket is out of the question because they are doing what they can to supply the basic needs of their children.
In spite of challenges they may face at home, the students are energetic to learn and thrive in a school that is full of stimulating things to keep them focused on their education.
The students are eager to gain knowledge to become better readers and writers. The teachers and staff want to provide them with the best educational setting to help them become college and career ready. I hope that you will help support our students in this journey!
Our students have a lot of information to take in over the school year. In addition, students can feel invisible when it comes to participating in class discussion. Either they are too shy or feel they will be made fun of for not having the right answer. Some just depend on other students to answer. I want to encourage all learners are active and doing their best to participate in class. Nearpod is the type of program allows that to happen in a classroom.
I am asking for a subscription to Nearpod for my students so every student voice is heard.
This program provides various ways to engage the students in learning through various activities from open ended questions to drawing tools to select answers. It also allows me as the facilitator to monitor all students at work to make sure they are actively involved in their learning. I can move around and provide assistance to struggling students without embarrassment or stopping other from working. This program even allows not only live session but I can assign lessons that are student paced where they work at their own pace so those who may work faster can move on to another assignment or finish other work and those who move at a slower pace do not feel pressure that a timer can give. Our school appreciates any donation that will help students become more engaged in learning and show what they truly know in a classroom setting.
