My students need a computer projector in order to take advantage of visual and audio learning materials.

In my second year of Teach for America, I am returning to teach kindergarten in a charter school in New York! My charter school is in a very low-income and high-needs community, and we are dedicated to serving our students the best we can with the resources we have! I have 30 adorable little kindergarteners--all minorities--that are super excited to read, write and LEARN everything they can about the world.
My school is amazing--but since we serve a high-needs community, we are almost always in need of supplies. Wanting to give our students an education comparable to any high-income private school, I am writing this proposal in order to better equip my classroom and give my scholars a high-quality education, that is not only academically stimulating, but incredibly fun, too!
Most kindergarteners cannot just sit and listen to a teacher talk--and I would never expect mine to do so. They have a variety of different learning styles--many are visual, kinesthetic, and tactile learners. Several are auditory learners, and love music and rhyme. I am asking for this computer projector so that I can reach all these learners. I would love to show video clips, music clips, and play interactive games with the whole class, instead of having the students listen to me and look at pictures in a small book. This projector will not only expose my scholars to a variety of learning styles through different types of media, but the projector will definitely engage them in the lesson. I can only imagine their faces as we see huge pictures or video clips of roaming buffalo, or explore at New York's Transit Museum archives and interactive exhibits online. This will definitely capture their attention and help them to focus on learning. I would also be open to sharing this wonderful resource for the whole school!
Your will help my wonderful kindergarten class embrace learning and see how much fun exploring different topics and subjects can be. You will make it possible for them to have access to things that other students in their neighborhood, in other high-needs schools, can not access. Not only will you be helping my class, but the entire school, for years to come. Thank you for your consideration to help my students achieve in the classroom and close the achievement gap!
