My students need 3 comfy bean bag chairs for their reading time and 6 packs of mechanical pencils.

Benjamin Franklin once said, "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." I desire for my students to always be engaged in and excited about their learning. I want them to understand the importance of education in their lives.
I teach in a Title I school where the majority of the students receive free and reduced price lunch.
Many of these kids are not given as many opportunities as other children in our area. We have a wide variety of personality types in our classroom. I always like to tell my students that in our classroom they are part of a family. We all bring different things to the table. Some of us are more quiet, where others are loud and outgoing. Some students love sports and learning history and war, while others love math, science, or reading science fiction novels. All of our interests are different, but we still find common ground and have similarities. Every single one of us comes from a different background and has different experiences in life, but we are all able to contribute to make our classroom the best learning environment it can be!
I'm requesting both bean bag chairs and mechanical pencils. The three bean bags are going to be used for our reading time. I don't know about you, but I love finding a cozy spot to sit when I'm reading. When I'm comfortable, it's easier for me to get engaged in the book in front of me. The students will be able to use these chairs in the classroom to make reading more enjoyable. I also requested mechanical pencils because I use these as incentive and "prizes" for the students when they are on task. It also helps me out a lot because pencil sharpening in the room becomes quite the distraction for many of the students.
I want learning to be fun and enjoyable for my students.
I want them to be excited about the books that they are reading. As a teacher, I get so much joy out of seeing students light up about their learning. Simple things, like having comfy chairs in our classroom or mechanical pencils to write with make a huge impact! Let's get these kids excited about learning!
