Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are inquisitive, open-minded, and multicultural.
I love how they are willing to share their cultures and eager to learn more about Francophone (French-speaking) cultures, as well as the cultures of their classmates.
We have a wonderfully diverse classroom community where students learn from each other.
Many of my students speak Spanish at home and are studying French to become trilingual. I also have students from Tonga, Vietnam, the Philippines, Egypt and Nigeria. I enjoy seeing them make connections between French and their native languages.
My Project
These French magazine subscriptions will help learners connect the language to their interests. The magazines are designed for teenage French language learners and cover timely topics that are relevant to young people. The subscriptions include access to additional resources such as audio and video clips and interactive activities that go along with the article topics to engage students with technology.
Our textbook was published 16 years ago, so the magazine subscriptions are a great addition to modernize our curriculum.
The articles and resources provide students the opportunity to see updated topics and language, as well as current events.
In addition, the wireless mouse, batteries, and clicker will allow me to get away from my desk to freely move around the classroom and engage with students as I share content via presentations and online resources.
