Help me give my students engaging books that are on their current reading level, math materials to play math games, and magnetic building tiles for our morning STEM bins and magnetism unit!

My sweet second graders need a class that feels like home. Most of my students will qualify for free lunch and may have moved more than once before 2nd grade for one reason or another. I want to provide my students with their own materials and a welcoming environment in order to make our class feel like home and give them the consistency that they need. Our Title I school is located in an urban environment and many of our school families benefit from community donations, food pantries, and partner organization donations. My families are unable to provide a lot of the back to school supplies needed in order to have a fully functioning classroom. This project could get our classroom started!
Becoming a teacher has felt like a dream come true for me. Teaching these children has been so fun for me, and with these new materials I know that I will be able to better reach my students in each subject area.
A lot of my second grade students came to me reading on a kindergarten and early first grade reading level.
I have learned that my collection of books are too difficult for a lot of my students. I know for a fact that the books I am asking for are perfect for where my students currently are, and will help them get to where we need them to be! With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level.
Math games are a favorite in my class and the dry erase sheets are perfect and make it easy for me to switch the games multiple times a week! We are using dice A LOT in my class as we continue to build our math facts. Double dice could be used with almost all of our games and centers.
My students have truly benefitted from my STEM bins in the morning. Watching them build with each other has brought me so must joy and has helped create strong friendships in my class. As we start our magnetism unit in science, I thought that the magnetic building tiles were a must!
