My Students

To be able to succeed in tomorrow's world, all students will need to be able to communicate in more than one language.

That is what our students are doing in our 4th grade dual language classroom.

Half of their day is in Spanish and the other half in English. I have the honor of working with 42 highly motivated students who all want to be the best they can. We are in a public elementary school where the money for reading materials is divided between the two languages.

My Project

By providing my students with Time for Kids, I will be able to bring in exciting, real life material to read. The articles in the magazines can be used to create other lessons as they relate to science, math, and social studies. Each night our children are asked to read for their homework. These magazines would help to provide the same resources for all children.

I have offered these magazines to my students in the past.

Their engagement was definitely higher and each child made over a years worth of progress on their end-of-year reading tests. With your help we can close the achievement gap between students!
