Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am fortunate to work with 24 second graders who bring their own experiences, knowledge, and personalities to school each day to learn, play, and grow. My students are sweet and eager learners who have been faced with many obstacles over the last few years. The Oroville Dam evacuation and Camp Fire were two major events that affected my students and shook our community. Despite these events, in addition to the individual challenges many of my students face, these wonderful kids continue to persevere and come to school each day with a positive attitude and outlook.
For many of my students, school is the safest and most consistent place, where they find comfort and stability.
My students attend school in a high poverty area and I find that often their resources are limited. All students qualify for free and reduced lunch. This gentle group of students deserve endless possibilities and my goal is to provide them with a learning environment that encourages academic growth and mindfulness.
My Project
Osmo is a fun and engaging learning resource that gives students access to hands on excitement! This technology takes practicing skills to new heights. Students will find greater engagement that stems from seeing their hand manipulated creations come to life! The charging station will allow my students to have a quick and organized spot where they can access their materials independently to get going with Osmo!
With Osmo as an interactive, colorful, and exciting tool, my students will be able to practice valuable skills that reinforce the standards we are working to achieve and master!
Providing my students with five new interactive STEM based activities will allow for more options, personalized learning, and excitement during independent center rotations. My students are excited about technology and giving them the tools to experience it through their own imagination is priceless!
