My math class is made up of 21 students who carry with them a multitude of personal challenges but with hearts that desire to give their best when they feel loved and respected by their teacher. These students get frustrated by traditional methods of paper and pencil practice. They require "out of the box" teaching...one that allows movement, active engagement and challenges!
These students are willing to do what it takes to find excellence within themselves when they have the "I can achieve when I believe" mindset!!
My class is a melting pot of ethnic backgrounds and on average, lower income households. As a proud member of a Title 1 school for 29 years and counting, my kids will give me their best because they know I will give them my best. As a team, our goal is to get them to their highest potential before they go to the sixth grade.
My Project
I am requesting the Wobble Seats and the Active Learning Stools to keep my students' entire bodies working while their minds are on the math, writing/reading/grammar/ and science.
This seating will give them the movement they require but controlled so it frees their minds to excel.
Some of my students struggle with medical needs that constantly try to block them from being able to focus on the lesson. Movement allows their minds to engage and these stools will engage their core muscles so their minds can problem solve. Our Title 1 school serves so many awesome children who require the tools to succeed and until now, I haven't been able to provide them with the furniture that will meet their needs!
