Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My class of second-grade scholars is a group of little ones who love math, to read, and to be read to. Made up of mostly boys, this group of chatty-Kathys work hard every day to become better scholars and better human beings. We are a class of learners.
The pandemic has magnified inequalities within education.
The impact of pandemic learning is leaving teachers like myself to examine ways to catch students up.
The long-lasting impacts of this disrupted school year can be long-lasting especially among students in Title I schools that are short on resources. Ninety percent of the school is Title I.
Students need help with learning loss in the areas of math and reading.
My Project
Educational games are designed to help students expand and learn math and reading concepts, reinforce development, and skills as they play. My students need socialization while being engaged in activities that reinforce targeted learning concepts in the subject areas of math and reading.
Basic educational tools are a necessity in the classroom, such as pencil and paper.
Additionally, the 21st-century student needs simple 21st-century tools. This means educational tools such as headphones with microphones are a necessity in the classroom. Headphones with microphones will allow students to engage with the designated reading program. This will allow students to listen to their reading to improve fluency, identify students with dyslexia, and give access to individualized online programs that will meet students' personal needs. We are in need of learning games and headphones with microphones to achieve significant improvements and growth in learning by increasing productivity while meeting these basic needs.
