Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students struggle to get academic help from home, but when they get into the classroom, they mean business! They are eager to learn, to become bilingual, and to be excellent readers.
Although they come in at the beginning of the year with many deficits and often without basic foundational reading and speaking skills, they never fail to amaze me with how much they grow by the end of the year simply because of their willingness to learn and to be successful.
My Project
Technology keeps students engaged and gives them necessary tools they will need in the future, while learning at their own pace.
We are asking for 6 Amazon Fire tablets to have access to real-life information daily which will promote active learning in the classroom.
We are also asking for 6 cases to keep our tablets in good condition , and a charging station to keep them running. These Fire tablets will give us access to do research projects, exciting science experiments, technological assessments such as video-recorded responses, and more.
These tablets will also give my students access to educational games (such as Smarty Antz, and Big Brainz) in all content areas (math, science, literacy, health, and writing) during centers, as well as during whole group. They will promote peer collaboration and be an awesome resource for all of my visual and auditory learners.
