Engaged Learners at the Rug!

My students need a rug for a place to sit on the floor. Our gathering place for our reading and writing mini lessons is currently on tile flooring.

My Students

Our classroom needs a comfortable place to sit for my engaged learners. My students are currently sitting on random rugs and on tile during our lessons at our gathering space. The students move around a lot to find a comfortable position to sit in and it is very distracting.

My students are first graders who are eager to absorb new learning.

They work hard everyday to be responsible, respectful, to be a learner, and to be safe. They love writing and spending time with me at our gathering place on the tile multiple times each day. My students mostly come from low income households.

My Project

My students will use the new rug to gather at every day of school. They will be able to sit together comfortably and will be able to focus more on learning and less on trying to get comfortable. My students will not only sit on the rug during mini lessons, but during their Read to Self time.

The donations to this project will allow me to improve my classroom layout as well as make my mini lessons more efficient.

I will not need to spend a lot of time organizing kids and reminding them where to sit. The students will just know which color and shape to go to and my lessons will be able to begin promptly. This rug will allow everyone to sit together, which helps build classroom community.
