My students need materials for STEM projects. We need supplies to build simple machines, bridges, houses, and cars. My students need math materials like fraction manipulatives to fully grasp concepts, as well as art supplies.
“The important thing is to create.” - Pablo Picasso I have a classroom of students who love to explore, create, and discover through hands-on activities. My students love learning about the outside world and enjoy coming up with projects that exemplify what they read about.
I have a bright, curious, and enthusiastic group of third graders who are always on the look out for new ways to incorporate their learning into art and projects.
My students are fascinated by the outside world and enjoy studying nature, animals, and history. We live on a beautiful island with many natural resources that I'd like to make come alive in the classroom. Through project based learning, students become invested in their learning and want to share their discoveries with each other and the rest of the community.
My Project
My students love to create and explore! In third grade, we start to learn about the way things work. This project will be providing students with the science tools needed to create replicas of bridges, houses, and cars! They'll learn and understand how simple machines work by experimenting and then making their own. This project will allow us to purchase the building blocks to have students engage in the STEM process. In collaborative groups, students will use their understanding to make useful creations. I plan to purchase bridge, house, and car building kits so that all students get a chance to create and build, using science and engineering skills to problem solve.
Third graders love to connect Science and Math to the world around them.
This project will give them math tools and manipulatives to conceptually grasp new ideas. I want to be able to provide enough materials for students to use in groups to play, explore, and help each other through the learning process. I plan to purchase fraction pieces to reinforce learning of equivalent fractions. I also plan to purchase geometry kits so students can build their own shapes while studying their attributes. Color chips will allow us to sort, categorize, create arrays, and use for learning multiplication.
I also plan to purchase art supplies to help support classroom projects.
