My Students

Kindergarten is the best year ever! Our district has recently transitioned into grade level schools so there are approximately 114 kindergarteners who are eager, enthusiastic, active, lovable and so much fun under one roof! It always amazes me how they start the year as preschoolers and by May are first graders. It’s such a year of growth, not just academically but socially and emotionally as well. As a kindergarten team we would love to start implementing cooperative learning (Kagan) to increase engagement and achievement not only academically but socially and emotionally as well. Students will be fully immersed and accountable in their learning.

My Project

Research has shown that students who work cooperatively together are able to achieve at higher levels. Instead of the tradition teaching method of teacher talks and students listen and work independently, we are implementing more opportunities for students to be engaged, immersed, accountable, and cooperative during learning.

These clipboards will be used in a variety of ways and with an abundance of content standards to provide students opportunities for cooperative learning.

These clipboards will essentially become mobile desk tops to allow students the ability to work together throughout the room. A boring, whole class worksheet, instantly becomes engaging, fun, kinesthetic, and diverse. Students are able to move, talk, coach, problem solve, and so much more amongst each other instead of being sedentary, quiet, and alone. A win, win for all involved.
