WHS is located in the heart of Las Vegas in the economically disadvantaged community with all students receiving Free and Reduced breakfast and lunches. Our students have limited access to high-quality STEM projects and opportunities.
We want to encourage our students to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics )projects in our physical science classrooms so that they can have hands-on experiences that they can apply into real-life situations when they graduate high school.
This class is a required course for our students to graduate. This allows our high school students to increase students' interest in these fields.
My Project
This project will give an opportunity for students to learn about energy transfer with a real-life example to learn about how energy is not created or destroy, but it can be transferred. Using the solar energy car supports students conceptualize the energy transfer process that we see in everyday life. It would give an ultimate opportunity for our students to apply the knowledge of energy transfers that constantly happen all around with hands-on learning. These students will appreciate the opportunities you can provide for integrated understanding of energy transferThank you!:)
