Help me give my students hands on tools to learn about energy resources with the hydroelectric demo kit, solar cell unit, and wind turbine. The oil spill clean-up kit helps them understand one major disadvantage of non-renewable resources.
We are from a small city that is just a few miles from an Air Force base. The kids have a natural curiosity and craving for understanding the world around them through science. Engagement during class time with this group of students is high, especially when the use of technology and science tools are involved.
This is my students' first year in junior high, and their first chance to get a serious, hands-on focus in a science classroom.
Most students live in a suburban or rural areas, and many of the students in my classes are from military families due to the proximity to the base.
My Project
I chose the wind turbine, solar motor , bio-gas, and hydroelectricity demo kits for my classroom so that students can have hands on experience learning about alternative energy resources.
Alternative energy resources are important for our future, and it is imperative our students understand how they work and the positive impact they have on the environment.
These kits will give my students a deeper understanding of these resources, instead of just researching and reading about them.
My students crave hands-on activities in Science. These kits will be engaging and beneficial for the many different types of learners in each of my classes.
