My amazing bunch of future scientists are eager to get hands-on experience with virtually anything! They want to create! They are an active bunch that needs hands-on examples of how things work. They like to do instead of just hearing or read about how processes are done. They can reflect well through writing and speaking in both languages after experiencing for themselves, which is typical for dual language students. We are a dual language class in a Title 1 school in the heart of Texas.
Children love to explore science through things they can relate to. Using the Operation, Rube Goldberg Machine and Mousetrap games students will get a hands on exploration of energy transfers culminating in complete circuits, incomplete circuits and conductors. By donating to our project, you’ll give tiny scientists an opportunity to engage in a Rube Goldberg Machine read aloud engaged, study how potential energy transforms in machines and how electrical charges travel through a metal conductor in the Operation handpiece wire, how the circuit becomes complete when the metal tweezers if the Operation metal trim (causing the buzzer to sound!), and see for themselves the results of trying to implement an incomplete circuit. Learning through toys is immediately engaging and will surely motivate young scientists. Further, students can take the fundamentals from Mousetrap and learning from the Operation game “dissection” and apply it to a wide variety of mechanical and electrical engineering projects!
