These amazing students are a very diverse group. I would say we have world class athletes in this school. For example, leading in athletics in our region. The kids are very physically active and love to be engaged. Most of the kids have been exposed to healthy living and love to incorporate it in their daily lives. Neighborhoods sits in between low income and middle class social economic areas.
Highland Oaks is a school with a plethora of ethnicities.
The students are economically diverse creating different opportunities for each and every student. The children are physically active, where the students play multiple sports thought out the year.
In our neighborhood, many of the students are dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Irma and Maria. Many students come to school to escape those issues and look forward to taking their minds off the stresses they see at home. Now we are also getting students displaced by hurricane Maria.
This project will be a great start to spread our love to all students, but especially those students suffering from the aftermath of the recent hurricanes.
The blenders will be used to make vegan smoothies that will give students energy to take on the day. We can try new flavors and feed the brain good fresh nutrients. Our blenders in our current cooking class room are old and no longer work. The cups and spoons will be used to taste and drink our yummy smoothies. Having new blenders will allow us to make these smoothies giving us a great energy source for each student in our school. Healthy is the new cool. Help me give my students the nutrition they need while feeding their minds and helping them after hurricane Irma and Maria.
