Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school serves about 850 students (7th and 8th grade) in an area of Omaha with a high percentage of low income students. We have many students who struggle with reading and math, but they know it is important to their future success.

Some of these students agree to go above and beyond and commit to working after school from 4 to 6 hours a week in our tutoring program!

It is optional and they have to pledge to attend regularly, work hard on catching up and completing work, and do it all with a positive attitude.

We like to give them a little energy boost and reward them for their hard work with a snack about half way through the 2 hour session. The staff are all teachers who are going the extra mile too, spending extra time to help these kids. We make sure snacks are available, but would very much appreciate support in funding them!
