Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm." To stimulate a love of learning students respond well to my homemade charts. These decorative charts are creative and colorful and have my personal "stamp" on them. They stimulate my students imagination and provide visual learning.
My school is comprised of 80%+ English Language Learners.
It is located outside of Washington, D.C. and is a school where many students live below the poverty line. Despite their low socioeconomic background, they are bright and eager to learn. My students love my posters that decorate the classroom and that is why I would like more chart paper to create more visual excitement for them. Having a colorful and decorative classroom provides a safe, yet exciting, learning environment. As a 3rd grade teacher who teaches all comprehensive subjects, I need support to encompass all of the various topics. The school is composed of approximately 800 students and in my classroom there are 22 sparkling minds to nourish and prepare for continuing education.
My Project
These educational posters, also known as anchor charts, are essential items in my classroom. I plan to laminate them and use them each year as I continue my career in elementary education. The students love my personal creativity and learn best when they know the teacher has created the unique visual. They refer to them often when reading, writing, and computing. They are also used to stimulate original thinking and discussion. My students often have the opportunity write on the anchor chart itself and are able to help me in creating the chart that will be displayed in the room. Visuals aid learning in young minds and I have found my charts to be extremely helpful.
Having colorful charts displayed throughout the room engages the students young minds.
They comment on the material printed on the charts and make connections to their own lives. They eagerly await each new chart. The charts provide an additional support to learning. It demonstrates how much I care about my students and their education. In a rather old building, these charts provide a bright classroom that features strong academics and positive attitudes.
