Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Many of my students come to school every day to be in a safe environment, surrounded by people who care about them, and to have access to two hot meals daily. My students attend an urban high school with over 1,100 students. At our school, 67% of the students are minorities and 69% are economically disadvantaged.
My reading intervention courses are designed to re-teach foundational reading skills.
My ultimate goal is for my students to develop an interest in reading for enjoyment.
My Project
My students are in ninth through eleventh grade, but the majority of them read below the third grade level. As I try to improve my students' reading foundational skills, comprehension, and motivation, an area of concern is their inability to focus. My students have an abundance of energy that I would love to be able to redirect into their reading.
Flexible seating with Zenergy Ball Chairs, Bouncy Bands, and Learning Stool would allow my students to actively learn by moving their bodies without losing focus on the tasks or being distracting to others in the class.
I would love to offer my students the choice to sit in traditional chairs, balance ball chairs, wobble stools, or traditional chairs with bouncy bands for their feet.
