My students need fun, interactive, educational games, that will transfer to their everyday life. I want students to have fun in their learning process. So having phonic, oral language, and math centers is a must!
I teach Kindergarten Dual Language at FHES, a Title I school. I just found out I am going to teach the same group in 1st grade next year! My students learn both in English and Spanish throughout the year. Most of my students are from low-income housing and come from broken homes. Yet, when they come to school they are eager to learn! More than half of my student did not go to pre-k. Kindergarten is their first introduction to phonics and math. 1st grade is where all the skills they learn in kindergarten start to develop! Therefore, I believe having fun interactive games for centers is a key for their learning. I love my students and want to have an environment where they love to learn. A place where they begin to make connections with their books through the phonics that they learn and use their math skills in their everyday life while they enjoy coming to school! My students and I are moving to a higher grade and interactive fun centers that are age appropriate is a must!
Having fun, energetic, interactive, educational games that teach oral language, phonics, and math skills makes students want to come to school to learn! These games are designed to teach them skills that are needed for reading and for math. For example, students learn about money by buying objects with cents. Teaching them the value of money. Furthermore, some of our students are English Language Learners so having centers that have pictures and word meaning helps them develop oral language as well as a foundation to their new language! In addition, these games are designed to be played individually or with a buddy so they develop social and team building skills.
