My Students
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Some of these challenges range from having clean clothes to never seeing animals at the zoo. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things engaging, fun and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their potential and their individual growth while they are with me.
I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hoping to inspire each and every scholar to continue on a path of academic greatness.
My Project
With these new books, my students will be able to read this story about a boy's struggles and his perseverance through obstacles in his life. My students have encountered the same struggles this boy has had to endure and overcome.
I want them to strive for greatness and I want them to believe in themselves and know that this is only the beginning of endless possibilities.
They will have the power to be whatever their hearts desire.
Some of my children don't have a safe, quiet place at home to read their books, so The Big Joe Chair makes reading comfortable and something the children will look forward too while learning at school.
